The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is a part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), and its mission is to:

Advance knowledge of the brain and nervous system, support and conduct basic, translational, and clinical neuroscience research, train and develop scientists in neurological research, disseminate scientific discoveries to the public, health professionals, and policymakers and reduce the burden of neurological diseases such as stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and many others.
